Help with keyless go function

Hi, I'm new here, recently bought A6 2012, have question about sensors on door lock, I see on Youtube I can unlock and lock car only touching sensor on door lock. (no need to use remote control) Tried but didn't work. Can someone give me instructions how to use this? I have Advanced key.

Should work, but try easy stuff first: Both car battery, and your key fob battery need to be good/fully charged. If car battery gets old or weak, and it sits for a while, car will disable touch entry. Same thing if key fob battery drops below about 3.0V.

On 2012 and I think 2013 - the keyless stuff was only on the prestige trim. Premium Plus did not have it - or was an option.

If the car battery is low then the car won’t start as the starter is the biggest load on the battery. If the fob is low then you will get a warning that you have to hold it near the icon on the dash to enable the car. My guess is that the car is not Prestige but the OP did not specify location and models were different around the world. The OP did not disclose options either so it’s a guess at best.
