How much cabin noise do your tires produce??
I have a 2012 A6 3.0 and 20" goodyear eagle sports (came with the car and almost brand new). I've read everyone says the continentals are the quietest...maybe lowest resonance with the audi 20s by luck...
This is my first car with 20" rims and i know they are louder/bumpier than smaller rims.
Coworkers said "listen to that baby hum" thinking ti was the engine, but downshifting at the same speed doesn't change the hum...only changing speed does.
My wife comments how loud it is in my car...
At 80 mph, using my iphone 6 and different decibel reader apps, mounted by clip to the air-vent, it measures 90-95db,
@50 mph its picks up 70-75 db.
I'd appreciate anyone measuring the volume with any size rims. Someone suggested getting it road force balanced...
Thanks

I had 20" Pirelli tires on my 2013 Audi A6. The noisiest tires ever.
Last year I purchased brand new Continental DWS tires.
Best, quietest tires. Drove 10k on the tires already

In my car, at 70 mph on new, smooth highway, and using a professional dB meter..... my car measured at about 85-88 dB road noise.
After I applied constrained layer dampening, followed by 2 layers of mass-loaded-vinyl and closed-cell-foam, the exact same mile of highway using the exact same dB meter registered below 70 dB road noise.

I put Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on my S63 AMG about 2 weeks ago. They are fantastic tires, but they are slightly louder than the Continental Extremes they replaced.

Did you go to the tire survey section and click on tire noise so the tires were ranked in order based on tire noise? There tire noise ratings are based on millions of miles driven. Is your problem with their tire noise ratings is that they don’t agree with your pre-conception of which tires are quiet?
