inlay - fine grain ash brown wood
#4
I have the ash in my A6 and I really like it. What photographs don't show as well is that the ash has a natural, three dimensional wood grain appearance (you can feel the grain) as opposed to the glossy polished lacquer type finish that traditionally has been popular for a while. I would venture that it seems to me that this A6 uses a little less wood trim than previous models and some other cars - but the effect is to incorporate it very handsomely into the flowing design of the interior trim - rather than have it look "slabbed on".

thanks for the pix, are these your photos or ones you found online?
this wood looks like its natural and not shinny like the dark wood one.
hmmm.... so tough, dont know which inlay to go with, they all look nice!

Looks nice in photos but I'd like to see it in person. It's possible the strong lines might be too "busy" looking when you take in the whole interior in person. Without seeing the layered oak, the natural ash with black interior is my current favorite interior combination.

I found them online. The layered oak option is now available for new orders as well. Someone posted on another thread that it will cost $550. I think there are photos of the layered oak on this forum, but just in case here is a link to a review that has photos:

My wife doesn't like the black interior, the velvet beige looks too light with the tan rugs, the gray is in many other cars and the nougat looks rich.
I don't mind the black. I don't like the brown dash and steering wheel on the beige. I would prefer a dark carpet. So we'll be leaning toward the nougat with the black headliner.
I have been saving pictures of the wood interiors. As a wood, I like oak - I have a kitchen full of it. I don't think it's worth an additional $500 added to the bottom line. I don't mind the traditional glossy finish of the walnut. The ash seems to be the favored wood option.
I tried to find a way to make a poll of the interior wood choices with no luck. Everyone seems to list the exterior and interior of their car but not the trim. My local dealer has black interiors with aluminum trim. We're not ready to put in a order yet so I'll keep gathering info.
