I suppose that this idiot went on to state that although it will cost more money and it's not as safe we will do it anyway because Americans never indicate and they all have too much money?

My understanding is that this is a US requirement, not an Audi choice. It may have to do with the size and number of lighting elements - i.e. if Audi designed the tail lights differently they might be able to use amber, but keeping the current configuration requires them to use red.

I'm no expert on this, and I totally agree that amber is preferable, but while I am quick to lay blame at Audi's door, I think this one is more fairly laid at that of our own fine government....

We don't know. We don't know that the required equipment even exists on our USA cars.

The adaptive light functions for full led in europe are only motorway light (extended lowbeam) if faster than 110 km/h. Second is static corner light.

Is that option in VAG above off by default?

Yes, it is coded to the NA settings rather than ROW.

When it comes to not having the full Europe capable LED headlights, that when you really appreciate our govt. regulations(sarcasm). It sure would be nice to have a world standard for auto safety. It would probably reduce the cost of the vehicle by a few thousand but I do not expect this to happen in my life time.
