LED or HID Headlights????
I'm planning on placing my A6 order real soon, but I'm undecided between LED or HID headlights?
LED Pros:
1. Cool looking
2. Cool looking
HID Pros:
1. Adaptive for going around curves
2. $1500 cheaper
Questions?
1. Are the LEDs adaptive?
2. Which one is brighter?
Any opinions from experience would be greatly appreciated.

1. Are the LEDs adaptive?
The LEDs are adaptive they don't physically move side to side but turn on the "all weather/cornering light" when you turn the wheel. Thats how the US spec. ones work, others may differ.
2. Which one is brighter?
In my experience with a side by side comparison with my other car which has HIDs it is noticably brighter. I have never driven any car with more light output than the full LED package.
Oh and yes they are über cool looking. I think they are the best looking part of the car.

found this article comparing Led vs Xenon (in general)
http://www.autoevolution.com/news/ba...led-26530.html
I believe that Bi-Xenons are brighter than Led's but the led's last longer
(not basing this from real world experience, only from reading)
$1500 is a lot, but they do look damn good

I found the LEDs slightly brighter than HIDs, as it appears the light is spread out wider than HIDs. I found the adaptive HIDs more effective than the cornering light of the LEDs since it doesn't turn and the cornering light isn't that bright IMO.
Whether it's worth the extra money for the cool factor is up to you. Don't buy it for a better lighting system at night since I don't think its worth the price, functionally. However, I paid the extra money for the look as it complements the car and makes it look unique compared to other brands on the road. Hopefully, other manufacturers won't copy this look as they have with Audi's LED daytime running light strips.

The lighting distance is excellent, there really is no down side to having them for me. And if you get the LEDs as part of the innovation package then you can use them with the night vision which sees about 3 times farther in front of the car than the headlights reach.
Also possibly due to highly directional nature of LED lights all of reflective paint in the road marking and signs show up so well it looks like they are electrified.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I might stick with the LEDs. It sounds like the only drawback is the cornering light is not as bright as the HIDs.
