In the market for a A6
#21
So is the new V6 twin turbo? If it is anything like the Nissan 3.0 twin turbo it should be a delight. As for the S/C engine, it has plenty of push for me. I just don't drive all that fast/aggressively these days. What I like is to have good midrange power and to know that at 70-80 mph there is a sizeable reserve of power if needed. As such, the S/C engine in the A6 works well for me. Will be interesting to see what the new turbo engine is like.

I have an A6 2.0T and a BMW 135i with the N55 3.0L turbo 6 cyl and manual transmission, and I'm completely in love with these modern turbocharged engines. The Audi does have a bit of turbo lag, but the BMW with its twinpower turbo has none. They both produce max torque from 1500 rpm so no matter what gear you are in, you just put your foot down and ride the wall of torque. This is much more useful for everyday driving, because with other engines where the torque and hp build to a peak at high rpm, you have to downshift to get to the high rpm range which wastes time and it isn't really practical to drive around at 5000+ rpm for prolonged periods of time. So you end up not making use of the full torque and hp of the engine.

It will be interesting to see what the new Audi V6 turbo is like when stacked up against the S/C engine (which for my purposes has more than sufficient low end grunt) and the Nissan/Infiniti 3.0 litre twin turbo which as I mentioned above has no discernable turbo lag.

To start, check KBB value and try to get deal down $1500. Its really hard to say given your vague description.
Don't know if I got a good deal, but I've been very happy with my purchase.
2012 A6 3.0T, 65k ODO, Prestige Phantom black/black, full tint on windows from an Audi dealership
very clean, meticulous maintenance records, no accidents, 1 owner
Orig ask $23995. Got it for $21500.
I wanted white/black but settled for black - can't be choosy with a used car. At least it had aluminum trim, I didn't care for the wood trim. Also wanted the sport package but figured I can make that up with aftermarket parts later...with 19 inch wheels and change suspension.
