My leather seat bottom is ruined
Went to clean my seat as it looked dirty. was using Griots 3 in 1 which i have used before without any problems. Only this time the "dirt" did not disappear, It got darker as it got more wet. Leads me to believe that the leather's protective layer was compromised enabling the leather itself to become saturated. It dries to it's lighter color. Not happy about this as the car is a 2016 with only 12k miles. bringing it in to the dealer on Friday as it is still under warranty. Never rubbed it hard and used a microfiber cloth.

Wow, that's not good. Wonder what could have caused that. I've used leather cleaners and not had that happen. Let us know what they say when you take it in.

I’ve used Griot’s for years on several different cars and never had any trouble with it. Must be a defect in the leather or abrasive clothing. Guessing the former.

I also use Griots and love their products. They have a 800 number on the bottle you may call and see if technical services can help you. They make three leather cleaners, the other products contain a higher ratio of cleaning to protection. Is it possible this is more than normal dirt and there was a spill on the leather you may not be aware of?. If the dealer cannot help, and they are not leather experts, I would take it to a leather cleaning specialist, they have safe more aggressive cleaners for leather, and then will use a separate product to protect it at the end.

But to get soil, or a spot off of used leather you need a product that is more of a safe leather cleaner only, and then follow with a dressing to protect the leather. Most cleaners are not safe for leather, Lexol makes a specific cleaner only.
It is my understanding that Woolite used in the laundry for fine washables is safe for leather. I would mix a capful of that in warm, not hot water in a 2 or 3 gallon bucket, clean the entire seat again, rinse with a bath towel or microfiber that has been dipped in clean water, let it all dry normally. Then you can see the results and if clean, follow with a dressing or leather protectant. I have used this for 13 years on my Lexus, it takes out soil and dye from denim. Don't know if the Audi leather is the same quality. Hope this helps, dave
