Default New engine installed

I picked up my A6 just a little while ago. Everything runs and works as new, after the engine was replaced.

The cause of the engine failure?

Well, on the repair sheet, it shows that a piston ring was found in the oil pan. A piston ring! Holy Moly! Then at the top, it identifies the cause of the engine failure as "Broken Piston".

No. CPO. Less than 11k on the odo at purchase. 19k something when it went South.

That had to be one extreme piston break up to drop a ring or part of one into the oil pan.

Not really. It just sounded broken.

I put about 200 miles on the car yesterday. Everything worked perfectly. I've been varying the RPMs, and doing some maybe 70% accelerations, to bed everything in the way I will drive the car. The dealer did a fantastic job all around, and nothing is out of place, it's working as if nothing had ever changed. I'm very pleased with Audi and the dealer.

Did they tell you the cause of the piston ring?

The information on what actually happened inside the engine was never disclosed, nor would I expect it to be. I am sure that they used the information gained to learn something, or at least I hope they did.
