new spark plugs at 35k????
According to the 2013 Audi Scheduled Maint Intervals, spark plugs should be changed at 35,000 miles. Is this a misprint? Hos it it possible that platinum tipped plugs these days will misfire or need to be replaced so quickly?
Pardon my ignorance, as I have had several Acuras; used to plugs lasting 60-80k miles. This is my 1st German baby. Is this correct?
Thanks

I checked the AoA online maintenance schedule and for the 2013 2.0 A6 like I have and they do say to change spark plugs at 35K miles and then after that at 40,000 mile/6 year intervals. This really surprises me. I was just looking at a friend’s 2012 Subaru Forester manual to figure out what her tire pressures should be and glanced at their maintenance interval – spark plugs at 100,000 miles. Another reason I am glad to be leasing and will give the car back before I hit 30,000 miles.
Added later:
After posting the above I thought about Audi Care (which I have) and wonder if the cost of replacing the plugs at 35K miles is included. I guess it would be since Audi Care includes all scheduled maintenance through 45K miles. That would make it a better deal than I had realized for folks who keep the car and drive it enough within the time limit to hit 45K miles.

Our 4 cylinder Audis are at 35k miles. The '06 C6 is at 55k miles.

1) Does direct injection/TFSI have anything to do with this (carbon buildup)?
2) I have seen a number of discussions on this forum re: the merits of Audi Care, but to my recollection getting your 2.0 spark plugs replaced at 35K miles is not mentioned. Knowing what I now know from this thread, I think this is a major reason for new 2.0 owners to get Audi Care. Does anyone know what it costs to have an Audi dealer replace the 4 plugs if you don't have Audi Care?
