o-ring failure Causing Transmission leak in 2012 A6 3.0

Anyone else have an issue with an o-ring failure in their 2012 A6 3.0? The transmission started leaking fluid internally causing the whole electronic system for the transmission to be fried.

All of the following lights came on when problem got very bad.

Check Engine Light
Gearbox MIL
Trac Control MIL
EPC Light
Airbag MIL
Hi-Speed Cooling Fan MIL
Tire Pressure Warning Light

The transmission would not shift, major lack of power to engine. parking brake would also activate by itself.

Vehicle is just now out of warranty by about 12k. Dealership is willing to do a good will repair...the total cost is about $9300 and they want 20% which is $1800.

If I do get these repairs, I'm surely trading this in because its a major issue and there seems to be no recalls on the issue besides for Volkswagens.

This model also has a fuel injection system leak recall that has not been performed, as well as an update to the transmission (TCM update - NVLW)

first post on here, please send me insight or common problem if this has happened to anyone else and how you went about the repairs and performance of vehicle after.

First I have never heard of a problem like this. I would think this is a rare type of failure. I am currently at about 5K out of warranty and no transmissions issue to date. The car has seen over a dozen track event plus about eight 1/4 mile runs.

I'd be willing to agree that this is a rare failure the you have experienced. I'm at 104k on my 2012 and going strong. I had the fuel system recall done at 99k. 1,800 for the trans repair seems very fair. I would insist on extra coverage for the work done and continue to enjoy. Unless you can get a smoking deal on a 16' facelift. Then I would do that.

do it, they might even just swap it out at that price

After an update, the service agent said that it was a coolant leak got through the wiring harness and fried the megatronics. I'll have a full list of parts that need replaced today. Total half on my end to pay is $1861 on the good will repair which is 20%
