Anyone else experiencing o2 sensor issues yet on US TDI? Had CEL right before my final scheduled maintenance and was just the sensor (car was shifting rough a little and kept gears longer around this time.)

Tech notes states it was covered in 2mm of soot. Cleaned it off but no go so replaced. Car has 36k miles on it with fix done around 18k mark. I am not a crazy driver but it is an Audi and generally get where I'm going promptly. But still what I would absolutely call normal driving. Occasionally do some more fun driving in the country road corners. Should this be happening this soon to the sensor?

From my research a sensor going bad can make the car drive dirty. Is it more likely the sensor was going, causing dirty driving, thus causing soot, making the sensor fail totally ( only a matter of time). Not a car person but you hear about these o2 sensors all the time it feels like so not really bothered unless fix is going to make me have to bring it in every so often for a sensor... That A5 sportback is looking nicer and nicer...

Good to know. Hoping it was just a one off. Literally the car has been amazing with zero issues and fix actually seemed to increase performance.

There have been many posts regarding the post fix cars having o2 sensor issues. Just seems to be part of life after the fix.
