Default Oil drain plug ?! (trying to change oil)

Hey Guys,

Im trying to change the oil on my 2012 A6 C7 but I can't find the oil drain plug in the oil pan. Has anyone changed there oil and located it? I find it pretty strange I cant locate the the bolt. And yes I removed the under plastic panel.. I see the oil pan but no plug...

Thanks!'
John

Some drains are near the front of the pan.

This doesn't help but had the same issue. Had the oil sucked out and the filter replacement is up top.

Did you find the drain plug? My 2012 q5 had a drain plug. I hope someone chimes in. I ordered a 2013 A6 2.0 and would also like to know. I do all my own oil service. 1k, then 5k then every 5k. Mobil 1 0-40 with Mahn filter. I hope there is a drain plug! I have always been concerned about extraction methods. On an oil change gravity is your friend.

My dealer drained my oil so it must have a drain plug but I don't know where exactly

Probably worth posting on a4 and a5 forums as there will be many more folks there with 2.0T engine than on here

The oil pan of the a6 is different. The capacity is 5.9 us quarts, The Q5,A4! Is 4.7 or 4.8 depending on the source.
I will ask the dealer service tech when I stop by the dealer.

I used a MityVac 7201 and sucked the oil out through what would normally be the dipstick tube. I was concerned about getting all of the oil out, but my 3.0 holds 7.2 quarts, and it took 7.2 quarts to fill it back up. This is apparently how the dealer does it, and it is much simpler and less messy than using a drain plug. With the top mounted filter there's no need for a jack. I'm assuming the 2.0 is setup for this as well.

l always used the "suck it up" method changing the oil on my power boats and it seemed to work fine, but I like to have a drain plug and a dipstick on my cars.
