Power trunk problems
Hi,
My 2012 A6 sedan will not fully open the trunk. It only opens up a couple of inches (it basically unlatches), and does not electrically raise all the way up. This is regardless if I use the remote, the exterior trunk handle or the button inside the car. I have tried to manually open the trunk to full open, and press and hold the close button to reset the system with no luck. Also, nothing happens when I press the button to close the trunk. When manually closing it, it latches fine. Am I looking at a bad trunk motor, or does anyone have any other ideas? |
You don't say where you are located but if in the U.S. there is no motorized trunk lid. Just a remote release which uses a springs that raises the lid. The only way to close it is manually by hand.

It is a European car. Trunk has worked fine until now.

I suggest you place your model, year and trim in your sig and your location in the avatar so that you can receive appropriate responses. There are many differences in models and features between countries.

US spec 2016 A6 has the power trunk, at least in Prestige trim. |
