Replacing broken grille with RS6 quattro grille, has anyone done this?
I have a 2013 Premium (Maybe plus?) A6 3.0T and I smashed my original grille, but the bumper is fine. An OEM replacement is like 775 dollars and the grille is boring and pedestrian so I decided to shop on ebay at the recommendation of my body shop guy. I just purchased a 2014 RS6 avant grille as a replacement with the quattro segment on the bottom (pictures below). I noticed that the sensor placement is slightly different and I'm not sure if that's a US plate holder since that model was never released in the states. Has anyone done this? I have to have a front plate in California, but the good news is that it's black.

I swapped the OEM grille on my 2013 A6 for an RS6 grille purchased on eBay. My only recommendation is to paint/wrap/Plasti-dip the crash bar or it will be easily visible thru the new RS6 grille.

I really dig the look of the RS6 grill! I will be adding that to my list of future mods.

I have a 2012 and I put the RS6 grill on too. It was the same one you selected. I did have one problem, the parking sensor wouldn't fit because of the metal beam behind the grill. I had to move the sensors down on each side. Keep that in mind

Notice how the sensor is in a lower position. I had to break the plastic and glue it in. |

I ordered mine from stonecarbon on ebay. My car has front parking sensors, front camera and nightvision so I had to request everything. Here's how it looks on my 2014 A6 3.0T:
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...a123446cc2.jpg The only issues I ran into were the parking sensors were mounted 180 degrees (no issues there) and the front camera holder was cheap and completely off so I had to dremel it out completely. Here's what I mean (original mounting bracket on top): https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...111ac46075.jpg Really annoying :/. End result looking pretty good though. I'm going to gloss back the mounting bracket and shave it to fit the new grille once the weather gets warmer. |
I did it! and it looks great. The only issue I have is the right parking sensor on the grill is picking up "phantom obstructions." But it's not constant, it's random. My body shop guy managed to fit the sensors into the RS6 mounts. The sensors are higher than they were previously. Besides cleaning, any recommendations?
