With this SIM in my 2014 A6 3.0T, I am hoping to activate a day pass for 5$ to play with Audi Connect - I will wait and see if I get the 200MB per month lifetime data deal without paying anything more.

This offer has been around for several months - I have it in my iPad. As I recall though, the 200MB deal is only for tablets and will not work for Audi Connect in the car,

I'll have to try it and see if it works out.
Worst case, I have the SIM that I can activate for a day, 10 day or month pass for a road trip - the kids will love the in-car hotspot.

The wifi hot spot can be a real data sucker and 200MB won't go very far playing on the internet, especially with video. If it even works (they do state tablets on the website). As to activating for a day, etc. mine doesn't work that way. Once activated, the 200MB is good for a month indefinitely. If I go over that in any month, my iPad sim stops working unless I go onine and pay for more data (which I don't do).

That deal link, as of today, redirects to T-Mobile Prepaid Phone SIM Card Activation Kit Deals which says you are buying a $15 SIM card to activate a phone, and getting a discount of $14.01 so you pay 99c for the SIM card.
It does not mention supplying ANY service or data, just selling the SIM card at a discount, without any service.
FWIW.

This offer still works. There's no reason anyone doesn't have Audi Connect.
Just going through older posts...but can't reiterate how good of a deal this is. $1.07 (after fax for the SIM, then free 200 MB with no contract of any sort. Confirmed this works in my MY2012.

T-Mobile has been very strict specifically requiring a tablet for the free offer. I read reports sometime back that even if you activate with a tablet, T-Mobile is frequently pinging to see if it's in the original device and if not, the sim gets turned off. I'd rather use my US Mobile for either $4.70 for 100GB or $7.70 for 250GB per month (I can managr that financially). Then I don't have to worry about being turned off and can leave the T-Mobile free offer sim in my iPad.

I told them it was a tablet and gave them the IMEI from the car. The IMEI wasn't able to tell them what type of device it was, so I think they have to take my word for it. When I looked up the IMEI in the T-Mobile database, they couldn't find it. In Google, it says it's made by Telit...which doesn't tell them anything. If you enter your phone IMEI, it automatically comes back with make and model.
Since it's the original IMEI I registered the SIM with, then there's no mismatch with a ping.
Worst case, I lose $1.07 and go back to AT&T for $10/month.
