Recently I noticed a ticking sound.. It's not really LOUD or anything just annoying when outside the car... I was just curious if anybody else had run into this problem?

It's probably the fuel injectors... kind of sounds like valves. All my Audis have the same sound.

Something to do with the direct injection. I heard Audi added a second firewall to insulate the sound from the cabin.

Agree with the others in the thread, this is normal for modern Audi engines. At idle, the car sounds like a sewing machine. If it bothers you too much, get in, put in drive and mash the accelerator. Then, you'll really like the sound of the engine...

It's not just Audi engines - any engine with a high-pressure Direct Injection system exhibits this in one way or another. At least Audi has done a good job insulating the noise - my previous Cadillac CTS with a DI engine was -really- loud outside. Luckily, they insulated it well on the inside...

Thanks for the feedback. As long as it's "normal" i'm cool with it. I don't hear it in the car just outside.. Weird, I don't recall hearing the sound on my 2012 S4.. I only had the car for a month or 2 so i may have not noticed.
