Tuning A6 3.0 supercharged
Came across this YouTube video by Chris Harris (best presenter on new Top Gear).
Ultimately comes down on the side of the 3.0 supercharged engine even in comparison to the V8 in the RS4 due to its sheer tunability. Point is I was staggered how fast the tech guy plugged in and re-tweaked the 3.0 engine to boost HP from the lower 300's to what they suspect is low 400's. But since they didn't cover it in the video, my question for all you technically minded ones is can such remapping be done safely without putting an undue strain on the engine over a several year period? Secondly, if you could tweak up say a 2015 A6 3.0, would all the underlying stock chassis and suspension components be adequate to handle the increased power or should one realistically switch quite a lot of other bits and pieces too, making it a much pricier proposition?

In the unlikely event that you are in the USA then you would probably leave the tuning to the pros like APR etc. also different states have different laws regarding tunes etc.. If TD1 is not a concern to you then have at it..
The chassis, suspension etc can handle it, particularly in sport option but without knowing a lot more info then your question is exceedingly generic.

I have a stage 1 2012 A6 with EPL 93 octane tune - also an Injen intake. Using the Torque app i pretty consistently read 340-350 HP. I flashed back to stock and was reading like 250 - 260....I take these as at the wheels which lines up with the stated 310HP at the crank stock. Sage 1 gives somewhere from 60-70 HP.
Stage 2 adds another 20 or 30 IIIRC...

I doubt teh stock hp tq is 250-260 as i have seen/heard/read these 3.0T to be very conservatively rated.
From what i read they go from stock to + 30-50hp and tq ish with pully (stage 2)

I think you just need to really think it through before you do any tunes. First, be prepared to be your own warranty provider. You may not get TD1, but it is a very real option and i would just plan on it. As far as whether or not the car can handle it, that is a going to be one of those debates that can get heated. In my experience, both here and with the diesel pick-ups, i would say it is likely that it can not handle it without damage somewhere. Usually it is the transmission that has trouble. Some people add tunes, as well as other mods, and never have a problem. But a lot of people do have problems eventually, but that stands to reason. Do you honestly think that if it was safe, street legal and mechanically sound, that Audi wouldn’t already do it to the car? Personally, I wouldn’t do it. My Audi is fast enough and quick enough already, but as long as you have thought it through I wouldn’t criticize you for doing it. It’s your car after all.

Lotsa b8/b8.5 S4 guys did stg 1/pulley tunes on the 3.0T s/c engine going back to 2011. I did. Numbers off the dyno were upwards of 400 hp/400 lb-ft torque. Cars were doing 1/4 mile times in low-mid 12's and as I can attest hairy scary quick. AFAIK never did I read or hear of mechanical issues where the chassis/drive-line could not/did not handle the increases. If you compromise the cpu, the TD1 will throw a code at the dealer and so what. Warranty claims usually weren't a problem UNLESS you break something in the drive-line as a result of the tune and I don't recall this happening.
