VAGCOM success on S6
I'm happy to report that using VAG-COM on the S6 was successful, to some extent. Firstly I can say that I didn't experience any of the issues that HyperS4 had. I used the instructions that are published for the S4 (since I had them printed out and in my S4's glovebox).
Here's the list of things I tried: 1. Remove seatbelt chime: I was hoping that this would get rid of the annoying chime (or alarm clock-like beep rather) when you open the door with the car running -- it did not. Maybe it actually disabled the seatbelt chime, but I didn't test that. If I can remember, I'll try driving away tomorrow morning without my seatbelt on :P 2. Gauge Test/Needle Sweep: Works 3. Lap Timer: Works -- in addition to the lap timer and oil temperature that the S4 had, this also enables a BOOST GAUGE! It's a graphical boost gauge along one edge of the display instead of numeric. I suppose if the tuners start increasing the boost that they'll have to re-scale this so that the gauge doesn't just max out too soon. 4. Remote windows and sunroof: Works. This enables an option in the MMI menu to let you control the windows and roof via the remote. 5. Gear Selection in display: Works |
Glad to hear you got it working. Im just confused about why you did the guage sweep when it is already there to begin with as well as the gear indicator.
I may try to go back and do the windows/roof operation via remote. |

Before it just displayed "D" or "S", now it's D1, D2, etc, and S1, S2... |
Ahh gotcha, very cool. Thanks for the clarification.

Ok, I updated my software for the VCDS and took the leap again. No problems this time. I only did two mods as nothing else tickled my fancy.
Just did the gear indicator and the comfort access via remote. |
