I've done some reading, but haven't found the answer to my specific question. So, please forgive me if this has been asked and answered...

Has anyone successfully removed the 10" Bose Subwoofer in the parcel shelf of a C7 A6 AND replaced it with an aftermarket (with AMP of course) 10" sub without modifying the interior portion of the parcel shelf, grill, and/or interior of the cabin in any way? If so, could you provide speaker, spacer, amp details..?

I spoke with an installer about the 2018 A6 C7 today and - without tearing into the car to measure anything - his two primary options included: (1) a JL Audi 10" 0r 12" self powered microsub mounted in the trunk, which would be removable and which would include removal of existing sub and insulating/dynamt existing parcel shelf to limit potential for rattling or (2) installing a higher end "free air" 10" sub into the existing parcel shelf, but likely needing to modify the interior such that the grill sits higher to allow for sub woofer throw into the cabin that does NOT slap against the grill, thereby creating buzzing/rattling/distortion. He recommended a minimum of 300 watts rms, and has a few options, including JL subs...

Comments on either of these two options - particularly if you have either in your own car and have "lived with it" for a while would be greatly appreciated.

Go option 1. If you want to mount an aftermarket sub to the rear deck it will need to be substantially reinforced. It is to flimsy and will rattle without it. Others can give you more specific info on this. There is a thread on this forum relating to that particular subject. Do a search on threads by subterFUSE. Good luck whatever you decide!!
