Replacing side view mirror heating component?
Hello,
Got a fault in VCDS a while back about this, and just recently had to deal with a fogged up side view mirror for the first time. Does anyone know if the entire mirror, glass, or another component need to be replaced? It's ~$800 for a new mirror assembly, and a whopping $450 for new glass alone....
I'm thinking the heating function is somehow built into the glass. I'm not paying $450 so one of my mirrors doesn't fog up every once in a while, but wanted to see if anyone has had this issue before and how they resolved it. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Zack

Yes, heat is built into the glass. Sadly very expensive.

If you've checked the connections, and everything looks proper, you can probably find a replacement on eBay. I found one for my wife's A4.
