winter tires or all season ?

I will add that this Nor'easter storm we got on 11/15 started in the afternoon. I drove home and to the shop on my all season tires. I could not exceed 25 mph without the car getting squirrely.
2 hours later, and 6 inches more of snow, I had my new Hakka's mounted and I drove home on unplowed roads at 45mph+. No control concerns.
Snow tires are literally like a switch for winter driving. It is a bit of a religious argument though. But I really get a kick out of "converting" people to snow tires. They never regret having finally bought snow tires.

car is new and as much as i loved driving my old a4 in snow .. i have a truck i can use when it snows thats why thinking of just all season and staying with the 20'' rims that I'm not crazy how they look for winter , so i don't have to buy lower size rim ,looking to buy new rims for summer instead and use summer tires i have on them now
i see for winter tires lower rim size is better but anyone have winter tires on 20'' rims??

You answered your own question. Drive the truck. Some don't have alternative vehicles to drive in snow. Stick with summer tires. If you have to store tires, it takes no more room to have wheels on them. There are lots of folks with 20 and 21's with snow. Im sure its far superior to summer or all season, but its individual preference if you ruin the wheel on potholes, curbs, or ice conditions, then its owner risk. Drive the truck, leave the Audi at home.

I have a truck too - I also run either snow tires or A/T tires on the truck. In the snow I would rather drive our cars (we also have a couple Subaru's all equipped with snow tires). The truck is bigger, heavier, and longer; thus much harder to get back into shape if you get out of shape. Of course, when the snow is really deep (after a Nor'easter) the Audi can get high-centered. So the extra clearance from the truck is nice.
Also to note - Most of the H/T tires I see delivered as OEM on new trucks aren't worth much in the snow either.
I have a long commute to work (47 miles, 50 minutes) and when it snows everyone always asks me "How was your drive in?" My answer is some variation of "It was fine, but I had a lot of 4 wheel drive trucks in front of me slowing me down." 8-)
