(I purchased a 2017 A4 in November 2016, when few dealers were openly advertising 12% discounts on their website without any need for negotiations).
Sales must be lagging, looks like they are now giving $1,000 lease cash on the A6.

Maybe sales will pick up as more inventory becomes available and marketing kicks in. However, as with most manufacturers these days the new A6 is competing for buyers with CUV's and SUV's. Thru November Audi has sold 61,835 Q5's and 33,387 Q7's just in the U.S.

I was in the market for A6/A7. Test drove A6, A7 and Q8 and immediately rejected the Sedans. It just did not make sense to pay top $ for a sedan when you can get an SUV for the same price. I went with the X5 eventually.

2019 5-series were 57% for 36 mo 30000 miles and 55% for 36 mo 36000 miles if I remember correctly when they quoted me. In the 40s it is way too low.

In the mail today I received a mailing from the dealership where we bought our 2016 A6 (I've been inundated with mailings and emails from them lately). It was titled "UPGRADE NOTFICATION". I can upgrade to a 2019 A6 under "unprecedented conditions". These conditions are BlackBook on the 2016 and sticker price on a $63.6k 2019. They show a final price which includes estimated sales tax. I get these things all of the time but this one bugged me more than usual for some reason.

Maybe bugged was too strong. It was just that the lengthy letter was in very business-like format with flowery phrases like "no surprises we've included estimated sales taxes", "freedom from worry" etc. For what was just MSRP less BlackBook (they don't know my mileage). I'm over it now.

It does seem like the sort of thing you would get from a seedy dealer selling used cars, not from an Audi dealer. I wonder if sales of the new A6's are that bad (haven't looked) that they have to resort to mailings like that.
