Front license plate holder

So, looks like Audi forgot to make front license plate holders for the 2019 A6. Went in and asked when its coming in and they said, we will take it in right now so they did and got it back a few minutes later. What they thought was the front plat holder were the two screws only. The Audi manual has the front plate bracket grayed out. I got a letter stating the goof up in case our over zealous police decide to pull me over... FYIW, I personally hate front plates and do argue with police about it. Their normal response is all cars are suppose to have them. Then I state, my classic cars do not have front plates as per Washington State DOT regulations...

Anyway, thought I'd post this for others. As a consolation, they gave me a set of Audi door light logos that I installed in about 2 mintues (both doors...)

so the 2 screw holes in the front are for the euro plate, but if you look there are 2 dimples that are meant to be drilled for the US plates. Audi expects you to use the bottom of your plate on those holes
it's a poor design all around honestly. I ended up just removing them

I'm in NJ which is another state that requires front plates. I'd prefer not to give the police justification to pull me over and harass me about it or anything else, so I'm keeping the front plate on.

Initially the dealer put on the plate along with one of their advertisement frames which had a chrome look. I was okay with keeping that in place until I realized it's just flimsy plastic and the top isn't screwed in at all. I'd prefer all all 4 holes attached, but I'm not looking to drill into the actual bumper. I don't have a picture of this, but I noticed that on the 3D camera views there was a blocked out trapezoidal area that was seen as chrome color; I realized this was the plate frame blocking the camera's view.

I recently swapped that out for an Audi branded metal frame, hoping it would add rigidity and hopefully not block the camera. The top is not attached to the car but I've got these rubber "well nuts" behind the frame/plate so that I had something to screw into without it damaging the car. Those are also pushing the frame away from the car a little, perhaps too much. When I worked on attaching the plate this way, my original plan didn't work as I was pushing the bottom out too far which made the top stick out too much. I had originally planned to use well nuts that I cut some rubber off of so they were shorter, but it looked like those were going to be too short / not touching the bumper at all. I will look at trying them again another time. The camera blocking is still happening. I'll take a picture at some point and add it to this thread. This is how the installed plate and frame looks now:

If I can't figure out a better situation where the camera isn't blocked, I may try this bracket which is made by the same company that makes the Audi branded metal license plate frames and would shift the whole plate down an inch or so.

djjuice, how do you get the plate connector pieces out of the bumper? I know they are supposed to be able to be removed, but I couldn't feel any tabs or anything while I was reaching under from the hole in the grill below them and I didn't want to break anything.

so I just reached under the bottom of the car and pushed on them hard towards the car until they pop out, try at a corner, i was nervous at first as I felt something was going to break, but they do come out if you push hard enough, they are 2 parts once you remove them.

So you just push them forward toward you / the front of the car? There are no clips or slots they fit into that you need to deal with?

sorry let me clear myself up, it's a little hard to explain. I took a corner and pushed it forward (towards me) then it release the other side to slide back (towards the car).
you can see from the pictures there is a side with no tabs, push that towards you and it'll pop, then you can push the rest towards the car

I was going off memory, i'm sorry about that.

Here are some pictures, I recall pushing the area without the tab first towards me so it released the other side, then pushed the rest towards the car to remove it
its hard to tell but on the left part, there are no tabs on the left side. on the right part, there are no tabs on the right side

Front - the side with no tabs is on the left corner on the left part, and the far right side of the right part

Rear

Close up of the rear, you can see the tabs just push towards the car (away from you)

2019 C* Front License Plate bracket

Your installation looks great. I was told by the dealer to keep the plate lower to avoid potential interference with the front camera since some of the brackets stick out further than the one you used. I found an inexpensive one on Amazon that works well and allows for multiple mounting positions. .

The dealer had it really low... definitely blocking some airflow to radiators
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...ab85c31bda.jpg
I mounted it lower than yours, but after seeing yours I think I will raise it as this does block some airflow (but not as much as dealer mounting did)

Your install looks sharp; great dealership, too. I checked my front plate install and it appears the dealership simply drilled two holes for their install. Will your linked bracket cover these, or -- even better -- will is use same holes?

Thanks all. I decided to order a German plate with a Bavaria sticker. Plate alphanumeric is the same on the back plate.
