Noise from the glove box in A6 C8
Hi all,
I recently got a used A6 C8, and I love it so much! One thing that annoying me is this constant noise that is coming from the glove box area. It's like a fan noise, and it's going on constantly when the car runs. Like when the start/stop system kicks (car shuts off), the noise is gone, but the moment car starts, the noise is back. It's literally like a fan. At first I thought it's the climate, but the noise still persist even when I turn off the climate. Anyone maybe have/had the same issue or have any idea what it could be? Any possible fixes? Thanks in advance! |
Did it get the glove box mounted cd player?
You didn't mention where you are or the trim level so we can only guess. |

It doesn't have a mounted CD player. I needed to check that :D The SD Card and SIM slots are under the arm rest.

You don't say what year your car is. If it is pre mid-2020 then it will have MIB-2 and therefore USB-A sockets in the arm rest and an SD-Card slot. If it is late 2020 onwards then it will have MIB-3 and this is identified by having 2 USB-C slots in the arm rest but no SD-Card slot.

Verify if its coming from back area, if yes, then that is fuel pump.
If its from Central console then it's most likely MMI fan, I've seen that being brought up early in German forums. |
You can use a microphone connected to your phone and a recording app. Then put the mic in different places in the car to determine the source.
Even better, use a stethoscope. |
