00032 Re-code for the trans DOES NOT automatically shift out of 1st gear...
Boy, did I find out the hard way but thank God for no damage. My trans definitely shifts out of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, but I never really pushed 1st gear after the 00032 re-code. Others on this board told me that the trans will definitely shift out of 1st to 2nd and I TRUSTED them! NEVER again! I did rev to 7,000 simply because the RPM's climb so fast and you're kind of waiting for that shift that never happens. That, and the htoughts running through my head were that the shift point might have been increased a biot, but no.
So, as least from my findings, changing the trans code to 00032 DOES NOT give you over-rev protection from 1st to 2nd like the other gear shifts do.

I've pointed out before, 1st overshoots redline; control system not fast enough to prevent it....
But, it does indeed shift out of 1st, which is easy to test if you accelerate gradually instead of WOT.
This is why I don't use 00032; that, and the fact that I can downshift into 2nd without accidentally going into 1st, and without having to take my eyes off the road to see what gear I'm in... just tilt to the right and tip rearward 3 times. This comes in very handing. It is not a good idea to accidentally shift into 1st, causing the engine to almost redline and the car to slow suddenly, possibly causing a rear-ender.

It should hold all the way to rev-limiter (erroneously aka "fuel cut"), right?
Many 6spd'ers have noted that you can hit the rev-limiter before the tach indicates into red zone at all. Rev limiter > "red line" and is more reflective of engine's "true" "red line".
IMHO, occasional bounces off rev-limiter are Ok. Engine computer only complains if you EXCEED the rev-limiter.

STFA, rev-limiter 7200 or 7300 IIRC, but in a 6spd you'll hit it before the tach does
You should actually be able to hold the gas at WOT and feel the car sort of lurch as the DBW cuts power at rev-limiter. If you've ever hit the fuel cutout of a traditional rev-limiter, this is much milder, but it still feels like you threw an anchor out the back window

Similiar Problems
I did the 00032 on my 01 2.7 and if I keep steady on the gas it does not shift into second automatically. If I even let up a bit on the gas in first in goes right to second.
The other thing I noticed is I am not able to down shift into first unless I am almost completely stopped.
Anyone else experience this?

I hear what you're saying Stoney, but now I'm gun shy more than anything else. I can't...
accidentally shift into first from second at anything higher than 30 mph, which brings me in around 5,000 RPM's. I like the ability to hold 1st gear when creeping along because even with the GIAC Tip chip, downshifting into 1st from 2nd requires WOT and depending on the situation, it can be too harsh.
As for running it up slowly to the redline and seeing if it shifts to 2nd, I could try this but I'm again a little gun shy now.
