Nice! Did your 17" wheels find a good home? (I'm interested.)

Did you need spacers to get those wheels to fit?

Re: Nice! Did your 17" wheels find a good home? (I'm interested.)

I still have them with the original tires@5k miles on it. The S6 have only 5600K miles to date since I use my Jetta GLX for my daily driver. I will sell them for $2k with tires and wheels in perfect condition. I tried selling the sets before and was told that Im asking too much for them so I keep them in my garage.

Re: Did you need spacers to get those wheels to fit?

The spacers I used are H&R spacers, and to maintain the same or close to the original ET or + - 1 or 2mm. The 17X8 have an ET of 35. The 10 and 12 mm spacers for the front and rear respectively gives me the right combination since the S6 Avant have the wider fender flares. The 18" will fit without the spacers but wheels are closer in to the car. I wanted to be closer to the original ET without going overboard with the offset.

Looks good, personally I am not a big fan of wheels that require spacers, but...

that is just me. Bad experience with wheel vibration attributed to the spacers. Wheels tested fine on another car after road force balancing. Mounted on my car, required spacers to clear the front brakes, they vibrated like a sunnovabitch. Never again for me.

Re: Looks good, personally I am not a big fan of wheels that require spacers, but...

I can agree more but in this case i needed the spacers to match my original offset without going overboard. In the case of vibration on the S6 which I thought the wheels and tires were the cause but in fact caused by engine being cold and when the engine temp rises vibration disappear. I have tried both 17X8 and the 18X8 wheels combination with and without the spacers on the 18's which resulted the same symtoms. Remember this car currently have 5600 miles to date and I checked for flat spot, etc. And this is not the only model in the line-up that have vibration some have the same problem as well.

VWVortex Southwest forum told me so, therefore they stay in my garage and find a way to put it in my Jetta.
