So i have lots of free time on my hands and an empty garage, also the parts are cheap here and there's abundance of the vehicles. I've read about the conversion, basically the best idea would be to get a 2.5 TDI hitler's revenge quattro and mount a 1.9 TDI. I've read that the gearbox mounts right up to the engine and the bolts fits like a sleeve. What i've also wondered if it's possible to turn a petrol quattro into 1.9 TDI quattro or is it too much? Has anybody done this and can give me some pointers? Why i wanna do this is because i want to bring fuel economy and quattro together.

Isn't a 2.5tdi also a diesel? Regardless, it sounds like a long climb for a short slide.

Anything is possible, but I think the only reasonable approach would be to buy a diesel car with a good body but bad engine, and put in a good used engine.
