Default 12-14MPG makes baby jesus cry.
This is making me think about getting a S4/S6 wagon instead.

My A8 gets better gas mileage.

j/k... In that case I would definitely move on! Do you need the space for teh beater? If not.... German: new 1-series, A3? Japanese: Mazda3, Camry, etc.

Default 1 series is for people who really want BMW but cannot really afford one. The new....
coupe version looks better than the hatchback but it still looks silly.

Default The 135i is for ppl who can't afford one? You realize it's hatch with a bi-turbo engine right?
I'd probably compare it to the A3. I'm sure most A3 owners are people who can't really afford a "good" Audi... </sarcasm>

Default T some degree your pun is right, the A3 is really a golf, as in, it shares a few monor components...
such as a floorpan, virtually all engine and gearbox combo's, rear suspension....and probably lots more hidden thinsg like heaters, dash panels, seat carcases etc....
