2.7T Cam Lock Bar Needed - Boston Area

Hi guys was wondering if someone anywhere near Boston might have a Cam Lock bar (and maybe the fan removal tool)for the 2.7T engine. I was hoping to replace a water pump, thermostat, and thermostat housing this weekend. Please let me know if anyone would be willing to lend me one for the weekend.

Thanks,

Derek

No pin? You need that too.

...and if you are doing all this work, why not just do the rest of the timing belt service and associated camshaft seals?

You can try the regional forums for a more local audience, but I think they are largely dead now that most of those people have moved to TOF.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.

Belt and cam seals were done 15K ago, along with water pump and thermostat. Unfortunately one of them is leaking. I believe it to be a cracked thermostat housing due to the area that leaking coolant is collecting in. Tough to tell without getting in there. Bougth all the parts though just in case. I will try posting in the regionals too. This may be a dumb question, but what is TOF?

Thanks,

Derek

You'll still need the locking pin to get the timing right. Eyeballing is a poor substitute.

TOF is the other forum that everyone migrated to after IB screwed this one up. The regional forums there are more active.

Sucks that you have to re-do the work. Good luck!

Good point on the locking pin, I will try and locate one also. Thanks for the input.

I just sent my cam bar back to ECS today, it was bent and needs to be replaced. I have the lock pin. I'm on Cape Cod. If you can wait until they send me the new one, I'd be willing to lend....next to that, the only person I know that will lend one is Wentworth Motorsports in Brewster....which is crazy far from Boston...I'm already an hour away.

Thanks so much for the offer. I happen to have found one out in Worchester by my job. Picking it up today and tackling the job on Saturday :)

It's a Harry Potter thing. Not sure if it still happens, but the name was sensored and links were redirected here. IB was/is a feeling a little threatened.
