Default 2.7T Head gasket

Hey all, I’m a 18 year old student and I’m looking at buying a 2004 Allroad with the 2.7T but it has a blown head gasket, has anyone done the head gasket on a 2.7t with the engine still in the car? I am mechanically inclined, but is this something to just walk away from or should I go for it?? The guy wants $600 for it and supposedly that’s the only thing wrong with it.
Ive grown up in an Audi family, so just looking to see if there’s any comments that may be helpful to me, Thanks!

Walk away. If you really want one, spend a few more bucks and buy one that has no problems , at least, at the time of purchase. A head gasket is quite a job on that engine, probably requiring pulling the engine.

+1 on this. There are a lot of used Audi's out there in better shape. It could easily get you in over your head in short order. I would say to myself "why are they selling it with a blown head gasket?" Probably has other issues as well and it also indicates they have looked into the cost of repair.

Yeah I was wondering if it made better sense to walk away, I mean I could get a new engine for about 800 but then at that point that’s just as much work as pullin the engine. Thanks for you’re input.

Default What Did You Decide?

So what did you decide to do? I say go for it. You're young you can afford to make bad financial decisions early in life, this may be one of them. The Allroad is a cool car so have at it. How is the condition of the car beside the blown head gasket?
