I don't know much about Audi or Volkswagen but I checked the RPI website and it mentioned performance parts for the 2.8 VR6 motor. I know the VR6 is a Volkswagen motor and I wanted to know if it was the same thing as the 2.8 30V found in the A6. If so, would the performance parts from a VR6 motor be compatible with a 2.8 30V motor on the A6?

They are different engines. The VW is a narrow angle V.

the 2.8 in the Passat is the same engine with slight differect configuration with the A6 engine

The original A4(1996-7) and A6(1995-7)had a different 2.8 engine (12V), but soon after was replaced with the 30V 2.8. The VR6 engine has always been a VW engine...originally it was in the old Passat, but then the new Passat got the same 2.8 engine (30V) as the A4. The most recent Passat did not get the update to the 3.0 litre V6 but when the Passat is replaced in 2005, it will lose the current V6 and W8 and get the new 3.2 litre VR6 engine.

Mods specifically for the VR6 2.8 will not work on the A4 or A6 2.8.
