The lifters are what the cam depresses when you bolt it back in by tightening up the cam bearing caps that are integral to the guide frame on the 3.0 V6. They need to bleed down again, which is why Bentley says wait 30 minutes.

You really need to get a Bentley manual for this. Remind me if this is not a 3.0 V6….
How often to the cam tensioner shoes need to be changed, I just bought a 1992 Audi 100 in June 2016 with 123k miles on it and its ticking...not all the time but I really like the car and want it to last a long time...got it for a steal of a price.

Wrong forum, and your car does not have cam chain tensioners, since it is only SOHC.
