2 Problems developing on '00 4.2 Insight?
1) Turn signals on occasion will not blink. The arrow indicator burns steady.
Dealer says: Hazzard Switch is begining to fail and replacement will solve problem. 2) Radio (am/only) reacts to turn signal blinking. You can hear the solinoid closing as feedback through the radio. Dealer has no clue at this point. Scheduled for service Feb 5th What do you think? |
Same car--no such problem.

Perhaps the two are related? Maybe fix (1) will make (2) go away.

Flasher failing
Had this problem years ago with a Ford product.
Flasher (Ford lingo) is dying. You've got the symptoms...No flashing, light just goes on and stays on until turn signal lever is put back in center position. Bad flasher probably causes other problem noted. Not sure why replacing the hazard switch is the solution, unless that's where the flasher is. |
Re: Flasher failing According to the dealer..
the flasher circuits reside within the hazzard switch. Of course that located pretty darn close to the radio. Hence, my guess the source of electronic interference.
Now that would be all to simple- right! |
Flasher uses relay, bad relay does bad things to circuit loading = noise
