Default 2000 A6 2.7T Aftermarket Suggestions

Hello!

I am new to this forum(well subscribed, everyone here is always helpful in replacing parts), and I have spent the last 3 days researching more about my car and reading what many other people have done. My car, Nala, is a 2000 A6 with the 2.7T and the S-line sports package. I love her to DEATH. I found her for super cheap, at 500$, in crazy good condition with the necessary things like timing belt, water pump, etc. already done AND she came with A swapped two-tone allroad interior, 2013 wheels from an allroad, a brand new entertainment system, and more. I felt so lucky and happy to find her.

Fast forward to now, she's at 240K miles, still perfect, and I can't stop continuing to fall in love, and it wasn't until recently I really wanted to make this car my own. I've been looking into TONS of aftermarket stuff, both performance and cosmetic. I have always been afraid to do any performance upgrades to the engine(Dad always said the car was gonna explode), but now I really am looking into it. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions of any performance upgrades I can make, that wouldn't put too much stress on her engine? I read the 2004 S-line came with increased horsepower and torque(I know of a whole 15hp and 53lbs), and thought that probably would be fine. I do plan on doing something to the exhaust, and I have the OEM sports suspension, but I was thinking abut replacing these(They seem just a little old, worn out).

Thanks for sticking around if you read the whole post! I dropped some pictures for anyone as curious as I to see other C5's.

Nice looking car. Welcome to the forum.

I can vouch for the APR stage 1 chip tune. I recently bought a 2003 with the tune installed. The low end (1500 to 3000 rpm) torque is significantly improved, and still runs well on 87 octane (I know, I'm cheap). Of course, it helps that I didn't have to pay for the tune, but have actually considered it for my other 2.7t cars.

Be careful with performance chips if you live in Denver or higher. I understand the elevation can affect the tune chips. Champagne Motors In Englewood has done a great deal of high performance tuning work on the C5. Talk to Larry.

Good to know! I'll be moving to florida in August, so Maybe I will wait to do anything with the ECU until I am down closer to sea level. And I totally know where Champagne motors is, I'll go check them out!

I'm cheap too... I try to run on 89 most the time but that doesn't always happen. Good to know about the APR chip! That's the one I have considering the most.

I have a similar model from 2001 including the sport package, manual, and I am really fond of it too. It is my daily driver, and I have had it for 12 years. For the last 10 year I have been running with APR stage 1 which is a great upgrade. I have 235k on the clock of which more than 100k with APR, and still using original Turbo's, so I regard the APR stage 1 as a safe upgrade. I would recommend the following:

The APR stage 1 tune.
Check you suspension, control arms and shocks. To me your car look a bit high for an OEM sport suspension. I am running with Koni FSD's and Eiback springs, which I really like.
An aftermarket exhaust. The A6 is so quiet as stock, and the engine sounds really nice, with an aftermarket exhaust. I have a Magnaflow, but there are others. You can likely find a good deal on ebay.
I replaced the thermostat for the after-run pump to a lower temperature, which should help persevere the turbo's.
Change oil frequently, and use fully synthetic oil.

Good lock
