Default Help with subframe removal

Hi guys. It's late in the day on Sunday but I want to attempt this anyway. In another thread I discussed the clunking noise I have after installing a new power steering rack. In the Bentley it said you should access the bolt from below by dropping the subframe and exhaust. I tried to work around this and thought I was successful, but now I'm thinking it is a good idea to drop the subframe to check that one bolt and be SURE it isn't causing my problem.

I've never done this - it seems like I just have to unbolt the two rear bolts and it should swing down - but is it that simple? I believe I should put some support under the oil pan when I do this to support the engine (like a floor jack)?

I am researching but I figured someone on here might be able to save me a ton of time, given that I'm losing daylight...it's been a crazy weekend.

Thanks!

Default Subframe

IIRC I dropped the sub-frame brackets without supporting anything. I did this to install the lower control arms when I rebuilt the front suspension. That being said and looking at the clock I say it's time for a beer.

Haha, Yeah, I may wait until one night during the week or next weekend to get into this. I have to remove the downpipe and everything and I think it's going to become a multi-hour job that I'm not gonna enjoy.

Good to know you just dropped it, it gives me a little more confidence...

I only did one side at a time so it might be a good idea to have a little floor jack up under there just in case. Not sure how far things will drop with both sides loose. Good luck.
