2001 Audi A6 2.7t high mileage club question
I have a 2001 Audi A6 with the 2.7T engine and 6 speed manual transmission that just rolled 277k miles. The cars been extremely well maintained and I'm the third owner. Everything works great and the engine runs beautifully but I'm wondering if it's worth the time and money to do the timing belt at 300k. Has anyone ever seen these motors run that long and should I worry about anything even the turbos sound great. Any thoughts help.

I turned 300k a few weeks ago. Only issues are cam seal leaks. Using a quart every 500 miles. Passenger side turbo intercooler pipe gets a half cup of oil every oil change, but boost still fine. Did timing belt at 260 miles so due in 30 or so. I'll make the decision when I get closer. Had clutch done a year ago so trying to amortize the $2k for that.

Don't know your location but you should be able to get a complete timing belt assembly (belt, idler, thermostat, etc.) installed for about $15-1600 at an independent shop. If it's not exhibiting a bunch of other problems then I would say yeah, probably worth it, if you really like the car.

Wow 277K and 300K. I just did my second timing belt at 180K - guess I'll have to keep on driving to catch up with you guys...
I think the engine mechanicals and 6 sp are very durable - in my experience the expensive and maddening things are electrical in nature.
