2002+ headlight switch into pre-2002

I tried searching on multiple sources but still no answer to my question...

I want to know if you can retrofit the newer style headlight switch from 2002+ A6's into the pre-facelift models.

I have an '01 4.2 with factory xenons and fogs if that matters.

TIA

Just so you know, the paint on the 2002+ switches peels. Same issue with the climate control buttons.

Peeling light switch - no Audi support

My 2002 A6 has the same problem, I beleive Audi should stand behind their products better than this. I brought it up at the dealership, they wrote something up but there was never any action. Suggestions?

get over it..... it has been proven that the peeling is due to a lot of factors outside audis control, lotions, scratching, chemicals, cleaning detergents, sodas etc etc.... should they have used a better material or covering? yes...... does it mean that they need to replace what you have? no
