Default 2003 Audi 3.0 nonquattro transmission problem

Hello,

I have a question about my Audi. The car seems to be jerking around. Let me
Explain: when my car starts everything is going normal, until after 30min of driving the transmission starts to act up. When I come to a stop, the car will not go into gear, only after a few secs of me punching the gas and revving the engine up making the transmission jerk into gear. Feels like it gets into gear after revving it up. Does anyone have any advice about this?

I have AVK engine, I'm not sure about which transmission I have, please let me know how I can start troubleshooting! I also ran a vagcom didn't tell me anything.

Thank you!

You Have a CVT "Continuously Variable Transmission" O1J Multitronic, a fluid and filter change is the most effective means of ruling out possibly the most obvious cause out side of not seeing any codes and would be the cheapest.

thaks for your reply, how do i make sure i have a CVT transmission. IF so, do you have a diy procedure to a CVT fluid change as i know it is different from a regular transmission fluid change. Thank you.

It should still be just be the normal 5 speed automatic, I have worked on a few 3.0, 2wd A6s and they had the ZF 01V trans. If its a normal auto, look under the car, is the transmission have a big black metal pan witha large fill plug and a small drain plug. If its a CVT, the transmission will look very square and blocky, and there will be no pan, just aluminum and 2 big plugs. Most likely you have the ZF 5 speed auto. You could try a fluid change, but chances are the transmission is failing from lack of service.

100% sure if you have a North American 2003 A6 3.0 "Non Quattro" you will have the CVT Multitronic six speed auto trans, other world market C5's maybe a different story with a ZF 5-A.

You sure? I have one customer with a 02 or 03 A6 3.0 2wd and it has the regualr 5 speed auto, I even serviced it. Looks just like a passat. Is it just 03+ 2wd all CVT?

Yup, late 2003 and 2004 was CVT only on Non-Quattro 3.0's.
Strange thing is I've even read about 2.7t's with the FWD ZF 5 speed autos like in 02,

Someone started a thread recently that had that 2.7t FWD with a ZF and was not from the US maybe from Australia, I don't see many here in my area but my son says he has seen a few in Texas, NM and AZ which would make sense unless off-roading in the sand is the thing to do in a A6 quattro.

Hello, I have found the problem, it is the transmission range sensor. I tried to change it today based on a write up on audi tech, but my car does not have it in the same location. Can anyone tell me where is the transmission range sensor locate it. ?
I have a 2003 Audi A6 AVK engine. Thank you
