Default 2004 A6 2.7t S-line questions

I have recently purchased a 2004 a6 S-line with the 2.7t, it has 49,700 miles on it and i want to take all of the necessary precautions to ensure a long life of this engine. I always wait for the engine oil to warm up before i run it at any substantial RPMs and i never dog out the turbos... with that being said i would like to do some modifications and i found an intake from Evoms.com that was enginered for the 2.7t.. what if, if any suggestions would you guys have on installing an intake to this particular engine, is it a good or bad idea. I would hate to ruin my MAF sensor and get a check engine light, also being that this particular intake is short ram does the temperature of the air from the engine bay hinder the performance of the vehicle in any way, there is a heat shield but still... If there is anyone that has installed this particular model or dealt with intakes on this engine in general any advice would be great. Thank you all

Sounds like what we like to call a "hot air intake". Skip it. The stock box is more than adequate.

it is the best stock airbox design ive seen in most cars.... it pulls air directly from a high pressure zone in the grill (cold air from the outside)... the only thing would maybe do a darintake mod ? but other wise, just stick with stock and paper filters and change regularly

Thank you guy's for responding so quickly... I have definitely decided to not purchase the intake.. it seemed like a shifty idea in the first place and you guys gave me the reassurance i needed.. gotta take care of this car because i freakin love it.

Long engine life and "chips" raising boost do not go hand and hand. Trust me. I know.

As for air-intakes, I use the AWE S-Flo. You will notice the difference.
