Default 25,500 miles, and I have "renewed" my love for my A6-->

On Monday night, I had to take a little "mission". I was to pick up the fiance from her parents house, drop off her younger cousin at her home (about 40 miles from the parents house) and return home. Total trip distance was approximately 80 miles, and most of the trip was on the interstate.
It's late around 10:30 on a weeknight, and I'm just hitting the road. I would've much rather been crawling into the bed at this time. I'm annoyed, and in a hurry, so I pop in one of my driving CD's and get to business. V1 sniffing away, stereo playing the tunes, I settled into my natural "groove" Not really paying attention to the speedo, but constantly checking my 6 for "The Man" I'm content and 100% in control. I get a distant Ka band warning, so I check my speed. I glance down at the speedo and focus on the needle.. It's pointing right at 105. "Whoa", I mutter to myself, and I realize that I haven't driven at this speed in a long while, not since the last time I forgot to set my speed warning at 90mph!!
I smiled a Cheshire Cat grin, and began to reminisce. I absolutely love this car. In the 13 months I've had it, I've gotten 2 speeding tickets (no surprise here)and I've had one flat tire.
Simply nothing else has gone wrong with this car.
I've been wanting to replace the stock Continentals, but I haven't done so yet. Why? Because they just won't wear out!!! I do my fair share of corner-carving, but these tires just refuse to wear out.. This car's performance is stellar, foul-weather abilities remain unparalleled, dry-road handling is far better than you'd imagine, and returns excellent fuel economy. It has road manners that I can compare to the previous generation of the MB S Class. A perfectly-weighted steering mechanism, with very strong directional stability, more than enough power on hand to hurl the car through the air at 2 times the speed limit, but yet with that distinct German feeling that the car isn't even breathing hard, and could keep up your law-breaking velocity all day long, or until you end up in jail.
Whether or not the rest of the world knows it, Audi has hit a Home Run with the A6. It's a car that does everything well, with style, looks and quality that can be found in cars that cost 10-20k more. In the case of the 2.7T, Audi has hit a Grand Slam. Taking an already award-winning automobile, and adding more power, better braking, and slightly improved handling into the equation. Every time I accelerate briskly away from traffic, I'm reminded of how much I love my car. Heck, the factory performance figures don't lie, and my own 1/4 mile times say light-years more than I ever could. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, and the 1/4 mile in 14.4, blistering performance for a 4 dr luxury sedan in my opinion. Especially when you take into account that 1/4 mile races are not exactly what this car was designed for.
I'm now an "Audi Addict" and will remain one for years to come.
Now, if I could just get up enough nerve to chip my car...

I Hear you Jim, I love my 2.7 more every day. I also have that "Chip Issue". I am so lucky that my boss Bought an A6. That drove to to a test drive and we all Know What is next, Driving as you Know it is History.

Default I completely agree

But, after two speeding tickets in the past year myself after none in the previous 5, I'm wondering about picking up a V1 myself. Now that I've got my Yokohama AVS db's on the 4.2, 100 or so sounds exactly like 70 or so. It is the only downside that I can think of. Going so fast shouldn't be THIS easy! ;-)

Default I've actually taken a 3 month hiatus from the A6...

Since I was racking up so many miles (28K in just over a year). Drove it again last weekend. Oh, do I miss that car! The A4 is great and a wonderful commuter, but it simply isn't in the same class.

Ok, I'm new to this forum so don't get on me for this question. What do you mean by "chip" your car?

Default Re: RockDaddy

The Term " Chipping" generally refers to Re-tuning the computer to get extra boost from your turbo's.

Acually you can "Chip" any car but the effect is minimal on a " Non Turbo" Motor.

A chipped 2.7 will add appox 57 Additional HP.

There are reliability and Warrenty issuses.

See APR's website or Banner ad that runs in this forum.

Sounds great to hear this! I thought about buying, and test drove, Mercedes, BMW, and Jaguar. I couldn't decide betwen the BMW and Jaguar, until I drove an A6. I fell in love with the ride and the interior, and got one just two weeks ago. I love my new Fraulein! This car can go fast so gracefully, and with such control!

Look at all the cars Audi and VW are basing on the A6 chasis. It's a proven car. Great story!

Enjoy your A6!

Default The night after I got my Fraulein A6, I had the wife in the back seat...

...just because we could. This was the first car either of have had where we had this much room in the back. Now, what are you thinking anyway? We just had some pleasant conversation and drank our wine. We moved into the front seats so we could recline them, and reach the stero controls more easily. NO! Of course we didn't do THAT...the king size bed is still better. (Though I don't rule it out in the future...maybe when stuck in traffic...)

Default I was referring to something more auto-erotic

Involving one person and one car. Say no more.
