Default 4.2 Engine Failure..Update.. Shes Home!!

Well, I got the call this afternoon.. Went to the service dept and it sure was good to see my four-deuce again! They had the Porsche dept detail it for me.. I tossed my service manager Tim a case of Corona .. he flipped me the key and said "enjoy".. ( he also added that the replacement Symphony 2 should be here next week which is fine since i'll swap out the Mobil 1 for Redline after a few hundred miles anyway and have it dont at the same time).
Jumped in and turned the key.. Fired up with no rattle or dry start sound.. no tapping or knocking.. Just a smoove purr comin out from the Supersprints..
After driving an an 04 A4 and then an 03 A6 3.0 loaner for 6 weeks I couldnt stop smiling as I poured on some V8 power and took a long deep whiff of the leather I'd been missing. This IS a wonderful car ya know.. Went home, picked up ol' Octane Jr and headed out for some shakedown mileage. For the first time since I got her, this car is performing properly.. I have always had a bad knocking/pinging on acceleration and more recently a loud tapping.. I am happy to report that all these are now gone. Smooth and quiet now... also, the strange vibration I used to feel thru the pedals sometimes is gone too.
Now we will see if it stays like this.. If there is any engine problem again tho I wont be as accomodating. For now, all is good.

Default Great news...thanks for sharing. One thing, though...

I'll be interested to hear if you have any more "clickity" starts after the car has been sitting for several days. Mine has done this since day one. It only lasts for a few seconds and only happens after the engine hasn't been run for several days. I'd like to think that my particular symptom has nothing to do with whatever it was that failed in your engine, but one never knows. Thanks!
