Default 6-speed swap STcoilovers

I will pickup the coilovers and have the option for adjustability. I have a set of VMR CSL wheels 19x9.5 rear 19x8.5 front, running a little poke and stretch with spacer/adapter. Recently acquired a 06 A6 S-line 4.2 blackonblack with S-line sport seats- it's nice but, the auto Sport mode or even tip shifting just dosn't come close to the feel of the c5 4.2 manual 6-speed. I will definitely be doing off the line comparisons and all out highway runs between the two. The 411 gears in the c5 4.2 with the 6-speed swap is instant pull in every gear and chirps 1- 4th gear, compared to the oh yeah let me spin this torque converter auto Transmission. Then transfer the power to all 4 wheels while using up 70-90 HP, just no feeling I don't think I will get another auto again (it's the misses car anyway). The C6 is definitely a timeless sexy looking car and that alone is it's redeeming quality. I'm interested in trying on a S6 5.2 maybe that would change my mind on the auto boxes.

Default 2001 Audi A6 Transmission

I have a 2001 Audi A6 with the 4.2 v8 and an automatic. This car is giving me gray hairs. The auto trans was replaced three times and it still goes into limp mode. I have drained transmission and am filling with authentic audi fluid. If this does not cure, please give me tips. Also I am looking for manual trans swap ,thanks Matt Mid South Used Tow Truck and Wrecker Sales - Zacklifts Rollbacks, Chains, Lift kits, Wheels, Simulators, Remote Controls - Washington DC Metro, Richmond, Winchester, Harrisonburg, Shenandaoh Valley Virginia.

Edinburgtrucks, swap in a manual. I swapped my 2003 S6 to a 6spd and I don't think I've ever been this happy with another car in my life and I've had quite a few good ones.

WOW! This is strange. What's the mileage and if it was replaced three times, still having issues? I have the same (2001, 4.2) at close to 150k. At 110k or so replaced the trans filter and fluid. Are you following the procedure in manual to bring it to right temp, cycle through shifter positions etc.? Is the car completely leveled?

I am curious why you are experiencing such issue not to mention 3 replacements..

Hi Brian. What rear diff did you end up using? Wich tranny did you put in?
I'm collecting parts for this swap. So far I have a 0A3 tranny from an S4 B6 but I'm not sure if I can use that car's rear diff. Does it physically fit in place of my S6 C5 diff?
Do you have pics of your swap?
I live in Spain so if anybody needs anything from Europe for this cars let me know?

S6ralleye,
The stock diff in my S6 matched up ratio wise with the transmission I bought from Audis4parts.com , so I didn't have to swap out the rear diff. That made things a lot easier for the guys at Bluewater Performance, the people that actually did the swap for me.
Good luck, you'll love it!
Brian
