Default the A6 wont start again....

she wont start again, seems like its not getting any or enough fuel to turn over, crank and crank and it wont turn over, a few months ago I changed the fuel pump and it lasted around a month then put another in and it lasted around 2 months give or take, when I check for voltage at the pump its less than 12volts, but if I make jumper at the relay I get 12.45 or something close to that at the pump,so I put a brand new relay in and still nothing, I can get it to start for a few seconds with a little starting fluid it will idle at 1000 rpm for a sec and die so Im guessing its only starting off the fluid, when I jumper the relay and the pump runs constant it almost starts, it sort of sputters and dies, Im thinking that the pump is a roach and not picking up enough fuel to pressurize the system, and there is gas in the tank,I opened up the fuel pump hatch to make sure. When I vagd it the other day the only error that came up is this one-
00771 - Fuel Level Sensor (G)
30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent
any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I would turn on the fuel pump, disconnect fuel line at the rail, and see how much fuel gets pumped out per minute.

I think some cars have port at the rail to check for fuel pressure, not sure about our cars.

Have you checked fuel filter? I had a filter on a Ford so dirty that it lean'ed the mixture enough to fail a smog check.

what is less than 12v at the pump specific number??

you may have unwanted resistance on that cable measure voltage drop on the cable that can be the reason you are not getting the correct voltage at the pump

Been busy lately and just got to play around with the car today, I pulled the fuel pressure regulator off of the fuel rail and jumped the fuel pump relay to see if fuel was getting up there, lots of fuel came out onto the motor, so I replaced the regulator and tried to start the car, with the gas pedal to the floor it seemed like it was trying to start so I kept cranking it and it started but was running ruff, I shut it off and replaced the fuelpump relay and it started back up still running ruff,I moved the car around infront of my house but it was only idling when I did this, turned it off and on 2 more times, started right back up but was running ruff, rev it up and it would almost stall but catch itself, pulled some codes, but I thought most of them were from starting it without the fuelpump relay, does that sound right?

for now, I think the gas gauge is off maybe, put 5 gallons in and she started up, drove it around for about a hour seems fine, except for the exhaust leak but now I guess I can take it to get fixed, I hope ha.

Default Coolant Temp Sensor

Probably way too late to answer this post, but my 01 2.7T did exactly the same thing. When hot, hard or no start...tried sometimes but wouldn't keep running. After sitting for 20 or 30 minutes, it started and ran fine. New CTS fixed it. 10 minute job to change it. No code ever showed up.
