Has anyone purchased a rebuilt abs controller from Auto Truck Electronics in FL?

I got my ab controller from Walmart.

Check the B5 S4 board

I think a couple of folks tried that route, and were pretty unimpressed. It seems the unit did not even work. I would recommend just bitting the bullet and get a new one. After all, at least you know it won't give you any issues for the next 4 years. You might want to do a search on this.
