Default Allroad shocks - what to buy?

I have had an C5 Allroad for 4 and a half year now. I did replace the front shocks 4 years ago with the Arnott SK-2779, and now 60k miles later one is done for. The shocks have worked fine until now, but 60k miles is not impressive durability.

I searched a bit and could only find the Arnotts as a alternative to the quite pricey OEM shocks from Audi.

Any other recommendations for good shocks for the Allroad?

Note I want to keep the air-suspension on the car.

Thanks in advance

Probably better asked on the Allroad forum...

Sounds like none are very reliable. I purchased from both https://rebuildmastertech.com and https://aerosus.co.uk/ and they both failed. At least Aerosus failed with warranty; I would not trust RMT anymore.

Thanks. I didn's know about the specific Allroad forum.

I found this trail, which is relevant for my question.

Seems like no good options. After reading, I think my 60k miles on the Arnott's is pretty good. I would likely just buy another set and cross my fingers.

Are you sure it is the strut and not the air spring? Arnott has lifetime warranty on the struts also correct, why not get a new one free?

It is not loosing air and the car is still bouncing. There are squeaking noises front the front right suspension, and the wheel seems unstable an bad road surfaces. I dont think it is the airbags. I did get them replaced once 4 years back when I installed the new shocks.

Sounds like it might be a control arm issue. Check uppers, lowers and sway bar links. May need to disconnect them to fully test them... just because they may not look torn does not mean they have not failed.

+1 on cu52's comment. You should check this before spending any money on shocks. It very much sounds like the bushings are shot on suspension components.

I checked the right front suspension Sunday, and it turned out that the upper front control arm was bad, so you where right.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered new upper control arms.

Changing out the uppers should not change the alignment. Changing the lowers however will change alignment. Your call but not a bad idea to get the alignment checked after doing the control arms. If the right side is bad you should also check the left side. The components are most likely the same age.
