Anyone else with a 6 speed having difficulty getting into reverse?

Hello Audi World--

I was wondering if anyone else whole has a six speed (on their 2002 2.7T) has had problems with putting the car into reverse when the car is first started? For quite a while now I have had a lot of difficulty getting into reverse where it takes a GREAT deal of force to get it to slide into gear. I would say this happens at least 50% of the time. Other times I can get it to slide into gear fairly easily. I've tried little 'tricks' like putting into first and rolling foward slightly, but that has never helped. At first I thought this occured only when I let the car sit for several days in my garage, but it has occured numerous times when I drive it on a daily basis. This can be so bad at times that it has literally taken me almost 5 minutes to get out of my garage because I simply couldn't get the car to go into gear without really pushing extremely hard on the shifter. Once the car gets moving the problem seems to go away, although there was one time when I was making a U turn and for a few moments I had difficulty backing up. This has been really bummed me out about this car, particularly since my 17 year old P.O.S. Acura Legend has never had a problem with it's 5 speed manual, and I could have bought TWO Acura Legends with what I paid for this A6. I told the dealer (Rockville, MD) about the problem and left it with them for two days, but they of course said there was 'nothing wrong'. I've had this car since May of 2002, and it only has 13,400 miles on it. I can only imagine what this will cost to fix the day after the warrentee runs out. Any comments or suggestions on what to do about this would be very much appriciated. Thanks!

Sometimes, but I have a short shift kit so I think that's my reason

Probably the tranny oil is cold and and in my A4 its rather hard to get into reverse. Why not just

back into the garage at night?

Shift to first.....let the clutch engage just a litle, then reverse will be like butter

You need to go to the dealer and have them adjust the linkage, and try a different dealer

Take it back. Mine slips into reverse just fine. The dealer needs to deal with this issue. Sometimes you have to complain a couple of times. It's unfortunate but that the way it is sometimes. You can try another dealer; but, I've return to dealers in the past and made them eat their words. You just have to be willing to do the same when it you fault.

let the clutch out to the sticking point while you are trying to shift into reverse then push clutch

back in. Had the same problem in my S4. Always worked for me to just let the clutch out a little while i was trying to put it into gear
