audi a6 error codes
 

I just purchased a 2000 a6 2.7T...great car. Unfortunately, the "Check engine" light came on. (my luck, "check engine" light comes on the first week I owned the car) I hooked up the OBD II scanner... and the generic codes were P1137 and P1139. What does this mean? - Yes, I know that it means Bank 1 and Bank 2 too rich... But WHAT DOES IT MEAN...MAF? WHICH O2 sensor? I know that it could mean a number of things, but if anyone has gone through this problem in the past your information would be greatly appreciated?

You should probably get a VAG-COM to get the specific diagnosis.

does that give a more in depth analysis of the problem??? do they make VAG-COM for an IPAQ Pocket PC?

No majic box will give a specific diagnosis.
 

The factory scan tool and the VAG COM are nothing more than dumb readers. Its up to the individual to interpret those readings, perform the necessary tests and form a diagnosis. For every fault code there are on average a half a dozen possible route sources for the problem. I'm not at the shop to look up the generic codes but I can tell you P=powertrain, 1=MFG, 1=Air and fuel metering, the last 2 digits are the specific fault. First thing I would do would be to erase the codes, reset all readiness codes and basic settings, drive the car, and see if they come back. The car might have been sitting around before you bought it, frequently started only for a few moments, low battery, jump started. All of those things could have triggered a fuel metering fault. I assume the car is running fine?

It could be just a loose fuel cap. Tighten and wait a few days.
 

If it is the loose cap you will be back to normal in no time. The light resets itself.

how many miles? 60kish? chances are bad maf~ replaced mine at 61k free its covered til 70k

I was hoping not to take the car to the dealer....but it seems as though I should. The car has 55k miles and runs fine; so if it's the MAF it will be covered. I know dealerships - charge a lot and don't fix the problem (half the time)
