Audi A8 L 2005 buy / or not?
Hi everyone again! My friend is looking to buy a used A8 with 50,000 miles...year 2005....I have a 2.7T 2000 which gave me a headache - but how realible is the A8 2005? Better than the my 2000? tx

A 2005 is generally better than a 2000, BUT it depends on how much you've fixed on your 2K and what hasn't been fixed on the 2005!
The 8's are more complicated...you'll need a vag-com to retract the electrically-operated parking brake on the rear caliper piston, for example.
If you can get a 100K 4–5 year warranty øn the A8 it might be worth it, don't pay more than $4K for it.
Otherwise you're just paying to upgrade your ride. The 4.2 has its own issues. As a general rule you're financially better off with repairing/maintaining the 2K2.7T. It's a quicker car, for one thing.

D2 and newer A8s sport all-aluminium construction with the entire spaceframe (no, it's not a unibody) and all the body panels attached to it hewn from the lightweight metal. This, in turn, can result in some spectacularly spendy collision repairs.
