Audi loaner= Enterprise Buick; Ford Explorer loaner= new Jag X-type yesterday...

How is this for great customer service? Took our 2000 Explorer Eddie Bauer in for a problem (no oil pressure on cold start) and they arranged for me to have a new, 300 mile Jag X-type as a loaner. When the A6 is in, I get a Buick or a Corolla.

X-type impressions:
1- Audi has nothing to worry about! This car, a 2.5 V6, is slower than my 2.8 A6.
2- The engine sounds coarser than an old V6 Plymouth minivan
3- Already had electrical gremlins. Constantly displaying "low outside temperature." No kidding, it's Chicago in January. Couldn't make it permanently go away. Rear defroster and mirror defrosters come on every time the car is started.
4- Ride (with 17" wheels) is very harsh. Significantly more so that an S4.

Positive things?
1- Interior is typical Jag- nice leather and wood. My wife feels it is nicer than any A4.
2- Factory sound system better than stock (non-Bose) Audi system.

At $36,959 it is no competition for an A4 3.0 Q let alone any A6.
But still a heck of a loaner for a Ford dealer.

That is not customer service, that is marketing

My loaner was a new A4!

Combo dealer?

Isn't that why you got it? And aren't you suspicious that there was a new Jag just sitting around available to loan????

The two only loaner I had were a '02 Jetta 1.8T and a '02 Golf GTI 1.8T brand new

Hate to tell you this....

...but the heated rearviews come on in new Audis at low temp too....

I'm not sure sure that the display of "low temp" is a gremlin - maybe it is just a weird design - a few days ago somebody here complained that the snowflake went off at 26 degrees.....

My last loaner was a Kia Sephia. Audi has nothing to worry about. ;-)

Frankly, it was clean & non-smoky and it got me where I needed to go.

I don't really mind experiencing cars I'd never buy as loaners. It's a good reminder of why I wouldn't.

It's not that I wouldn't love the dealer to hand me the keys to an S4, S6 or whatever the next time I'm there for service. I just know it's not going to happen.

I once got a red TT with 225hp - almost didn't bring it back!!!!

Allroad, Boxster, new A4, A6 3.0, no "loaner complaints" here! Tks for the Jag writeup!

Good side is, when you return to the A6 after Enterprise Buick, you feel good.
