Default Audi software bug in alarm system

Try this:

1. Have the car running to start.
2. Stop the car and remove the key.
3. Open the door and close it, but remain in the car.
4. Arm the alarm by pressing the key fob lock button.
5. Wait for 60 seconds or more until the LEDs indicate the car is fully armed.
6. Press the "unlock" button on the key fob, but don't open the door.
7. Wait until the door re-locks itself (< 60 seconds).
8. Insert the key and start the car.
9. Congrats. You're now driving with the alarm armed. If you open the door or move too much, the alarm will go off and the car will disable itself...hopefully not while you're driving.
10. To reset, stop the car. Open the door. Press unlock and the key fob. Close the door. Start and stop the car.

Neat, eh?

I don't see that as a bug. You don't use the door, the locks and alarm go back "ON". ????

Default The bug is that the alarm is on with the engine started.

If the alarm goes off, the car self-disables, which means no engine, no power brakes, etc., but you still have the key in the ignition.

Yes, if you unlock the doors with the key fob, then don't get into the car within 60 seconds, the doors will relock. That part's a feature...and a nice one.

Default Hah, I love it!

In case anyone else wants to goof around with the system, here's what NOT to do:

Start car. Exit car, close door with engine running. Use 2nd fob to try and lock the door five times. Bingo, your car thinks someone has stolen the rolling radio code and both fobs are ignored and the dealer needs to fix it.
